COLIN COURTICE
For some years Colin enjoyed painting purely as a hobby, but when the opportunity came in 1995 to move away from his life-time career in advertising and graphics to paint full-time he jumped at the chance. An added bonus was to be able to move to the delightful village of Brockenhurst right on the doorstep of his favourite landscape subjects within The New Forest.
Colin was trained as a commercial illustrator at both Willesden and Hornsey Art Colleges in North London, but his fine art techniques are self- taught, particularly those involving pastel, so much so that he is great demand as a demonstrator, tutor and adjudicator.
He holds his own one-man exhibitions each year and his busy programme features such popular exhibitions as Wessex Artists, The Woodlanders and Forest Artists. His wildlife paintings are regularly exhibited nationally with The Wildlife Arts Society, and The Marwell International Wildlife Art Society as well as his aircraft paintings with the Solent Aviation Art Society. He is a past Chairman and current President of the Ringwood Art Society as well as serving on the committee of the Romsey Art Group.
The beauty of nature, wildlife and love of the countryside are reflected in Colin’s work, now in collections internationally. From misty river scenes, to dramatic landscapes and paintings of gentle English scenery, his subjects are extremely varied. He is known also for his still-life work, facades and animal studies.
