Plein Air: Deadman Hill

For those fond of the colour purple, it is arguably the finest time of year in the New Forest. Swathes of purple (with patches of russet) sweeping over rolling hills and valleys as far as the eye can see, pathways snaking around the contours to even more spectacular vantage points.

It was a very breezy day, which encouraged most of use to stick to sketchbooks and dry media or watercolour to cqapture the essence of the scene. We worked very hard indeed as the wind whistled round.

Back at the Fighting Cock, we warmed up and compared notes over a cheerful lunch.
