Plein Air: Rheinfield House

Rheinfield House is a beautiful building in a lovely setting. Unfortunately for us, having postponed our plein air once due to the rain, we faced a gloomy forecast. Sunny intervals were the best we could expect.

We had an initial look round but had to dive under cover to avoid a downpour. After a few minutes we looked up to see the sun smiling down on us. Might we be in luck?

We decided to risk it and most of us set up just outside the cafe in a pretty courtyard with a fountain. We had just enough time to take a few reference sketches and photos, unpack and make a first few tentative marks when the heavens opened and a mighty deluge fell upon our heads.

We scuttled for cover. And coffee.
