Demo: Pam Philip - Still Life Floral in Oils
Last Monday we had an excellent demo in oils from Pam Philip. She painted flowers in a clear jar. Painting on an acrylic ground, she loosely blocked the background then areas of colour for the flowers. She responded intuitively, constantly moving across the surface, keeping some areas loose and impressionistic with greater detail in the foreground. She stressed that you should not be too precious; the image was loose and impressionistic - she was not aiming for botanical accuracy.
Pam’s workshop will be on Saturday, 25th October. This workshop is most suitable for oil or acrylic but other opaque mediums are possible. It is not suitable for watercolour. If you would like to try out painting in oils but you need to borrow oil paint email us; it can be arranged.
For those less confident she suggested a simple still life with fruit and a jug rather than flowers.
Although you cannot make payments through the website at the moment, you can still book a place in the workshop. Payments will need to be made by bank transfer (or other means by arrangement). Non members of the club are very welcome to join us but will need to email f or payment details.
